30.9.2010 With a view to ensure Zero Discharge , Decentralised Waste Water Tretement Plant is under construction at Central Prison. The treated water could be used for Toilet and bathing purposes as well as horticulture.
25.8.2010 Three Prisonsers convicted with imprisonment for three months for an offence of possessing cell phone inside Central Prison Puducherry by Judicial Magistrate -I Puducherry Distrcit Court. 10.8.2010 Video Conferencing Equipment is being installed by National Informatics Centre Puducherry at 9 locations to over all the four regions i.e. Puducherry Central Prison. Puducherry Cour, Karaikal Subjail and Court, Mahe and Yanam Subjails and Court and IGP chamber. This system would be compatible with Video Conferencing System available with TamilNadu based on ISDN lines. Courts and Prisons in TamilNadu can also be connected. The system is under testing and will be inaugurated soon. 15.7.2010 Wireless Communication system has been installed in Central Prison Puducherry. Frequency Allocation is awaited fro Govt of India. 1.7.2010-7.7.2010 Isha Yoga Foundation conducted yoga training programme for inmates for a week. 15.3.2010 X-Ray Baggage Scanner installed at Central Prison Puducherry.It was inaugurated by Thiru E Valsaraj , Home Minister Puducherry. The function was attended to by Chief Secretary Sri R Chandramohan IAS. 2.10.2009 Thiru E Valsaraj,Home Minister, Puducherry inaugurated Khadi Spinning Centre and Koramat Weaving Centre set up with help of Puducherry Khadi and Village Industries Board. Function was attended by Chief Secretary Sri R Chandramohan IAS and Sri S B K Singh IPS, DIG, Puducherry Police. 1.7.2009 Door Frame Metal Detectors and Handheld Metal detectors were installed at Central Prison Puducherry. 10.2.2009 Certificates distributed to inmates who underwent training in Detergent Making, Phenys Making and Bakery.The training programme was organised by Khadi and Village Industries Commission , State Office Chennai. 10.7.2008
i. The Chief Secretary incharge Mrs. Naini Jayaseelan, I.A.S. has visited the Central Prison along with Director General of Police Shri. A.S. Khan, I.P.S, on 10th July 2008 1.7.2008
ii. Nokia Cell Phone Modle No.1200 with battory and without sim card was seized from a Under trial prisoner Prabu @ Narayanan S/o Ganesan on 01.07.2008. In this basis a criminal case was registered against the said UT prisoner at G.B.PS, Puducherry
iii. small quantity of dry leaves (Suspected to be Ganja) about 6 Grms. was seized from the prisoner Krishna singh S/o Muni Singh on 30.06.2008. In this connection a case in Cr. No.324/2008 U/S. 20(b) r/w 8(c) of NDPS Act 1985 and 438(28) of Puducherry Prison Rules 1969 was registered against the said prisoner
